Regional Director of Janajagruthi, Mr. Vivek V. Pais, stated that the Shourya team is the first thing that comes to mind in any mishap. He emphasized that for the Shourya team, which is well-known to the community, knowledge of first-aid procedures is very important.
He was speaking at a first-aid training camp organized on 22.09.2025 in collaboration with Jyothi Hospital Belthangady, KMC Hospital Mangalore, and Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project BC Trust (Regd) Dharmasthala.
Mr. Kabilan, an expert from KMC Hospital Mangalore, provided the training. He explained that providing an initial response to any injured person can save their life. He gave information on first aid for someone who has collapsed due to dizziness, symptoms experienced by diabetic patients when their sugar levels drop and their treatment, symptoms of a person during a stroke, bandaging techniques, and treatment during bleeding.
He also provided information on the treatment for burns and the problems that can arise from treating burns with traditional methods.
He gave information on the symptoms of bee stings, snake bites, dog bites, etc., and the treatment methods for such situations.
Discussions were held on locally faced problems, contacting hospitals, and calling helplines. The volunteers were trained through a practical learning method.
Ms. Jenny, training organizer at Jyothi Hospital Belthangady, Mr. Krishna, Agricultural Supervisor in the Guruvayanakere project area, Jayavanth Patagar, Project Officer of the Disaster Management Program, and Kishore Kumar, Project Officer of the Disaster Management Program for North Karnataka, were present.
A total of 35 people, including the coordinator and volunteers of the Guruvayanakere Disaster Management Committee, attended the training.
